Victory is as woman portrayed
Because she is fickle.
History is written (occasionally)
By winners, but Eternity is penned
By the Losers.
Victory is as woman portrayed
Because she is sometimes false.
Hector died because victory
Called forth his death, swift Achilles,
Breaking the breaker of men.
Victory is as woman portrayed
Because she is vicious.
The Romans crucified a upstart,
Gained a victory against He
Who returned their master.
Because she is fickle.

In your arms
I hope there will come a day when you don’t let me leave.
And not as as a ‘second round’ deal but you asked me to stay the night
The dream I had was set as such:
You kissed me goodnight and walked me to the car.
And just before you walked inside, you held your hand out
And asked me to stay.
I stayed, I stayed what felt like days.
We barely woke up to greet the morning
because your eyes were the most important sunrise.
I let you fill my cracks with gold so that I could see that my scars could still be beautiful
I welcomed you to pushing me down
Just so you could have

Claustrophobia
Forgotten the sound of everything,
been living in my hall of echoes
for far too long.
Try and move between them and suddenly
I reach a wall.
It's clear, connection cannot continue
to blossom, as long as
you
are here;
this eternal monologue.
Time for this snake to
shed the dead skin of comfort,
no more lying about the negative
not being comfortable.
Rejoice.
Not out of obligation, but
awareness;
watch it join hands with appreciation.
I've found myself at another wall,
so just destroy the concept of walls.
STOP.
CON.
FIN.
ING.
ME.
Dig, dig, dig...
Literature
Forging Foundations
there is part of me that knows these walls
in the same ways I know
unrequited was the dream I used to tie my strings to,
unrequited was the hope I used to fill myself up,
unrequited is just a word I used to be friends with
because you've crooked your fingers
into the hooks of my jeans
and you've hooked my heart,
dangling, a stranger to safety
learning how to let someone lead--
there is a piece of me that fears these feelings
like I fear insects that sting, like I fear wildfires that rage,
like I fear porcelain dolls
with cracked faces and scarred chests
because so far in this life,
all the beautiful things I've ever held
have come to me brok

This one is kind of old, actually.
Wrote this somewhere around my trip to Chicago which seemed to break my spirit so. Contemporary with this are "The Sun said to Chiacago", "Christ is No Hydra", and to a lesser extent, "On My Graduation".

I've always wondered why Victory is a woman. (Though there's a certain amount of irony in an entire era being named after her...)
